Mr Jack Sampson

Kia Ora Mr Sampson,

I have been informed of the email of disgust that you had sent out about one of our team members here at The Department Store.

My deepest apologies go out to and I'm extremely sorry that you have been treated this way. We have talked to Jack and he is normally one of our best, he must’ve just had a bad day (no excuses). But we have informed him and issued him with a written warning, also he has offered to have a meeting with you to say his apologies.

We would like to offer you a free pair of shoes and also a $50 gift card for any of ourx   departments.

Yours sincerely,

Jayden

Manager at The Department Store

Re: Review of the new recycling program

As per requested, here is an update on how the recycling has been going. Here is a list of positives and negatives.

- Most of the recycling bins have been used correctly and the appropriate items are going into their corresponding bins.

- There has been mostly positive feedback come in from staff about the new system.

- Some of the staff think it is a waste of time but they are still following the rules.

- The food scraps bin isn’t emptied often enough and it becomes smelly.

- There is some confusion over what types of plastics are recyclable.

I have a few suggestions that I think you should change. I think that the bins need to be emptied more often and put a sticker on each bin with what can be put in that particular bin.

Yours sincerely,

Jayden

Subject: Fire evacuation procedure

Date: 6 August 2020

Hi everyone,

After a recent fire drill, A lot of the staff members did not know what to do after the fire alarms started to go off. The alarm sounded continuously to indicate it was a fire alarm but some staff members stayed inside the building. Staff members that did leave the building weren’t sure where they should assemble. In the event of another fire alarm please follow these instructions.

  1. When the bells go off. Evacuate the building instantly.

  1. When you leave the building find the meeting area.

  1. Do not leave that area especially to go back into the building.

  1. Wait paintenacly until the fire marshal says to

Please make sure the fire exits are clear at all times and nothing is blocking these doors, it is  unsafe. These instructions are here to help everyone during a fire evacuation and make sure everyone stays safe during this event. For any questions please contact me via email at MegCarter@workplace.co.nz.

Thank you,

Reduce Plastic Waste Scheme

Banner here

Dear Customers and Suppliers

Stanley Organics Ltd. have come up with a new scheme to help us reduce the use of plastic packaging in our store. We want to stop putting plastic in our landfills. We want to invite our customers and suppliers to be a part of our new scheme and work together with us to help change the way everyday products are bought. We want to welcome your feedback to help us improve our scheme as time goes along.

A few changes that are going to be implemented are as follows.

1) All plastic bags are now replaced with hessian bags (made from flax and hemp fibres). First bag free with purchases over $50. Or we will provide recycled cardboard boxes (and help carry to your car).

2) Most liquid products (liquid soap, shampoo, dishwashing liquid, etc.) are now available in ‘fill your own’ containers. Bring your own container to fill and get a 5% discount.

3) Fresh vegetables - instead of plastic bags, try reusable waxed cotton bags to keep food fresh.

Stanley Organics Ltd. thanks you for your support and we hope to see you in our store.

Regards,

Judith and Barry Sampson

Store Owners.

  1. Really great work on this Jayden!! Superb resilience sticking with it even when you didn't feel like it.

    1. Letter - Format looks great! In your second paragraph, beware of comma splices. There are two. This means that you have used a comma to combine 2 independent clauses. Change this to either a full stop, semi-colon, or comma + 'and'. 'Email of disgust' - the tone of this expression is a bit off. Maybe 'email of grievance'?

    2. Nice!! Great intro + conclusion. Format is spot on. 'That I think you should change' -- perhaps instead 'that I think you should consider' or 'that I suggest we implement.' ?

    3. Looks wonderful!!! One comma splice in first paragraph and one in the last paragraph. Otherwise 100% :)

    4. Content is superb! Great work. Make sure the spacing/layout looks professional.

    Ka rawe Jayden :)
